Well, I suppose I should mention why I've been absent from the TWC for a while. Most of it was because I became addicted to fanfiction. A realm of writing where most of the work is already done, and it becomes a great exercise to get the characterization of other peoples people right. Plus you already have an established audience more than willing to tell you if you've done something wrong, and help you get it right. I've worked very hard on my novel formatting and dialogue. To date I've written two fanfiction novels, a collection of short stories, and had a good number of reviews for them. If you are interested, head down to Fancition dot net and do a search on the author Paul Midnight. Feel free to review too, I have anonymous reviews allowed so you don't even have to register.

I have also entered my a short story into the L. Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future contest and have been accepted. I'm a little scared to win however, because they fly the winners out for a seminar and awards ceremony. It's funny because of recent... issues concerning mental health and injury... have left me less likely to be able to withstand the new experience even though I am a professional film actor. The world is an odd place. But it was during my recovery that I latched onto writing and thus far have enjoyed it greatly and improved. That's all that happening with me on the writing side though, oh, but it looks like I did finally find someone to crit stuff with me. Perhaps. We'll see. I might even able to get back into the chats if possible. heh. Be safe!

Okay....my "x" as opposed to my "ex"

I have been writing, gosh, as long as I can remember...(time frame is shortening with age) I started out with poetry, and I suppose it will always be my first love, especially the formals. I have a few poems published in small press and a few awards to my name, including an HM from Writer's Digest. Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, poetry does not pay well...
Have been trying my hand at a novel for the last couple of yrs... I completed a draft, and foolishly started to submit queries without REALLY polishing the piece. I was fortunate enought to get a few partials and a full manuscript request from agents, but you can probably guess the results.

Soooooooooooooo.......back to the drawing board...same theme, very similar plot line....but a total deconstruction and rebuilding job....getting there, and getting excited....but NOT gunna stick this thing in the mail until it meets standards....

I have joined a local writing group, and that has been rewarding....still looking for a great critique partner to help polish, and help encourage the polishing as well....a rah rah partner is ok, but I want gloves off honesty

Anyway, I have probably rambled enough....(who was it that said one plus one equals one-half? Stein?) I will be in chat on occasion....have learned a lot and un-learned a lot...

LASTLY ( I promise) I have come to realize the importance of marketing...branding..all that....Time to get a web page started...I just gotta figure out how this dern spider works

Best to all and see you in the reviews!!
